The "human-like" robot SE01 has captured new global attention thanks to its exceptional ability to mimic human gait. Chinese robotics company EngineAI has released a video showing the robot walking with humans outside its Shenzhen office, wowing viewers around the world.
Some initially thought the video was a computer-generated animation due to SE01's complex and precise movements. But the video highlights the remarkable progress in robotics capabilities in China over the past year.
The release of the video coincided with EngineAI's participation in the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), where it showcased a range of human-like robots, including the SE01, SA01, and PM01.
The video has been admired by many technology experts, including Jim Fan, an AI scientist at NVIDIA, who praised the SE01ās smooth gait.
āRobot gaits are great, but we need these robots to perform vital tasks like putting out fires as quickly as possible,ā Fan said.
The SE01 has made a huge leap in the field of humanoid robotics thanks to its superior ability to mimic human gait, as it has the ability to perform complex movements such as squats, push-ups and precise tasks smoothly, making it very close to natural human movement.
The SE01 features a unique design that avoids jerky mechanical movements, and relies on smooth and graceful steps that make it suitable for work in industrial and home environments alike. Standing at 170 cm tall, it is designed to perform a variety of tasks, from lifting weights to assembly work in complex work environments.
The SE01 leverages advanced joint units to control the force of the harmonic, and relies on deep reinforcement learning algorithms and imitation learning, in addition to an advanced neural network model.
It is worth noting that EngineAI was founded in October 2023, and has made rapid progress in the field of legged robots thanks to a team of pioneering researchers in this field. The company was able to launch a distinguished group of robots in record time, such as the SA01 and PM01. The SA01 was designed as an open-source bipedal robot for scientific research and education at a competitive price of about $5,250. The PM01, which is 138 cm long, is dedicated to specialized applications at a price of $12,030.
The SE01, which is considered the jewel in its collection, has not yet been priced precisely. However, co-founder Yao Zhiyuan indicated that its price could range between $20,500 and $27,350, reflecting a balance between its advanced capabilities and market accessibility.
