Indian star behind bars for 'forbidden meal'

Indian authorities have arrested a social media star after he posted a video of himself cooking and eating a peacock.

Indian police said Kodam Pranay Kumar was jailed after posting clips on his mobile phone showed that the bird he was cooking in a YouTube video was actually a peacock, a protected national bird.

Under India's strict wildlife protection law, Kumar was jailed for 14 days while a court decides whether he should be kept in custody or released on bail.

Investigators are trying to determine how Kumar managed to obtain a peacock for use in the video, which has since been removed from his channel.

The peacock has great symbolic significance in India, and the throne of the Mughal dynasty was called the "Peacock Throne" because it featured jeweled peacocks.
