The Public Security Directorate in Jordan facilitated all the obstacles that faced an inmate in a correctional center, enabling him to pass the requirements for obtaining a master's degree and take the comprehensive track exam during his sentence.
In the details, the inmate's father told the Public Security Radio that after his son completed all the requirements for obtaining a master's degree, a judicial decision was issued against him, according to which he became an inmate in the "Zarqa Correctional and Rehabilitation Center".
He pointed out that his son had successfully completed all the required subjects that qualified him to apply for the comprehensive exam to obtain a master's degree, but the judicial decision issued against him prevented him from completing that.
The father said that as a result, he contacted the administration of the correctional and rehabilitation centers, requesting that his son be allowed to apply for the comprehensive exam because his son, after the end of his sentence, will have exceeded the legal period for obtaining a master's degree.
He pointed out that he was surprised by the speed of response to his request and the interest in his son's issue from the workers in the reform and rehabilitation centers, who decided to help him obtain the academic degree within the framework of the reform approach followed by the directorate to help inmates live their lives normally and effectively in society after the end of their sentences.
He pointed out that the administration provided his son with the appropriate atmosphere to complete his studies, helped him acquire the books and scientific materials he needed, and allowed him to spend additional study hours in the center's library, noting that the administration of the reform and rehabilitation centers coordinated with his university (Mu'tah) and facilitated the admission and registration procedures on the electronic portal, and he was also transferred to the Karak Reform and Rehabilitation Center, which is closest to the university, to facilitate the arrival of the university committee to follow up on his exams inside the reform center.
The inmate applied last Sunday for the first track and on Tuesday he applied for the second track.
For his part, the Director of the Reform and Rehabilitation Centers Administration, Brigadier General Falah Al-Majali, said that with direct instructions from the Director of Public Security Obaidallah Al-Maaytah, all obstacles were overcome to enable the student to apply for the relevant exam to obtain a master's degree.
