Longevity advice from Chinese researchers.

Chinese researchers have recently revealed the links between physical activity and sedentary behavior and their effects on longevity and accelerated aging, lending credence to the advice to "sit less and move more" for a healthy life.

According to the Chinese news agency "Xinhua", researchers from Sun Yat-sen University selected 20,924 Chinese participants aged 50 or older and collected data on their physical activity and sedentary behavior through questionnaires.

The study showed that when analyzing the relationships between physical activity and longevity, they found that moderate physical activity, compared to low levels of activity, was associated with a 56% increased likelihood of living longer.

The study showed that the frequency, duration and intensity of moderate physical activity were positively associated with the likelihood of longevity. In contrast, vigorous physical activity did not achieve the same benefits, and in some cases showed an inverse relationship.

When examining the relationship between physical activity and accelerated aging, researchers found that increasing the frequency of moderate physical activity was associated with a lower risk of accelerated aging by more than five years. In contrast, increasing the duration of vigorous physical activity was associated with a higher risk of accelerated aging by more than five years.
