Residents of the Turkish village of Tarsus found an ancient treasure during a funeral procession in the village.
Daily Express reports that residents of the Turkish village of Tarsus found a ceramic jug containing about 1,100 ancient silver coins during excavation of a grave to bury a deceased person.
The newspaper article reads: "While digging a grave for a deceased man in Tarsus, Turkey, villagers found a solid object in the ground - a cracked ceramic jug."
After removing the jug from its place, it was found to be filled with a large number of ancient silver coins. They immediately reported the discovery to the police, and came to the site with the local museum staff. After counting the pieces, it turned out that there were 1,100 silver coins.
The museum administration intends to conduct a detailed study of these pieces to determine their age and origin.
